Covid-19 Impact on Chamberlain Ballet's 2019-2020 Season
Dear Chamberlain Ballet friends, families and supporters,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce must end our season and cancel all planned performances and events planned through the end of May. The Monday, April 27 th announcement by the Governor of Texas allowed for limited opening of businesses. Sporting events are limited to outdoors, with no more than four participants, such as tennis or golf. Additionally, gym facilities were not allowed to reopen at this time.
While it is possible that these restrictions may be lifted in two weeks, if there is no spike in COVID-19 related illnesses, we will not have time to prepare our talented, pre-professional dancers for public
performances. Additionally, movie theaters were given the opportunity to reopen, but only with 25% of capacity. Performance theaters were not included. Even if performance theaters are allowed to open, the expense of theater rental, sound and light technicians would not be offset by limited ticket sales.
We will also be cancelling our planned recitals for outreach including Shining Stars for special needs
children and young adults and Releve’ for at-risk children. Chamberlain Ballet was determined to hold on, in hopes we could weather this pandemic and save our final events for the season. Sadly, that is not to be a reality.
We are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends, families and individuals who support Chamberlain Ballet. Thank you to all of our generous donors who supported us through the North Texas Giving Day Now on May 5, 2020. We are grateful for your continued support.
We encourage all to continue to follow the guidelines of social distancing and stay healthy. Together, we can survive this pandemic. We look forward to presenting our Fall Season in October 2020 and we will see you in the theaters again!
