In 2005, Chamberlain started the Shining Stars program for students and young adults with special needs. This unique dance program is designed specifically for children and young adults with special needs, starting at age 6. These students attend specialized, FREE classes in movement and artistic expression. At the end of the year, Chamberlain provides a full production recital for family, friends, sponsors and the community.
Thanks to a number of dance student volunteers, the Shining Stars program is highly-supervised and gives participants the chance to work with peers, develop flexibility and coordination, and have fun! With three classes offered each week in Plano, the Shining Stars program has proven to be a real boon to the community and enrollment has quadrupled over the past two years alone.
We have reached 500 special needs students since 2005 through our Shining Stars program.
